Theme and Variations IV - Erbsentrieb

Alongside of Series I (“Rust”) and II (“Crack”) emerged Theme and Variations between 1962 and 1965 and 1973 in four smaller series using technique and nature as the basic form: III. “Span” (1962), IV. “Erbsentrieb” (1963), V. “Wickentrieb” (1960, 1963, 1973), VI. “Stanzform” (1965) – a total of approximately 50 works, mostly unique pieces on silver-gelatin baryta paper sized 30 x 24 cm.

The Series “Span” (Theme and Variations VI) in addition to the topic “Grids,” which is also from 1965, marked the transition from the object-related to free, non-object-related designs.
