Heißenbüttel

The variety of the forms of the cracks was striking; as a result, it was photographed on B/W-bitmap-film, still using the bowl, even though the crack gradually disintegrated from corrosion. This process was documented through phases, also in color resulting in a story through pictures, which corresponded perfectly to the text “Roman” by Helmut Heißenbüttel, published in textbook 2, 1965 (3rd Edition). It fascinated me because of its relation to my work with concrete poetry. In 1963, it inspired my 21 photographic illustrations in a bound number of portfolios and book objects with the typography of Hans Andree. Overall, more than 200 works using different techniques and formats were created from “Crack.”
